A great sauna isn’t just about getting hot. Good heat matters. But so does steam, airflow, thoughtful design, and the simple ritual of slowing down, heating up, cooling off, and doing it all over again.

I’m Max Borg, founder of The Sauna Standard.
Before starting The Sauna Standard, I spent over a decade as a corporate lawyer. Outside of work, sauna became an increasingly important part of my life. It became a place to step away from the daily stresses of life, slow down, put the screens away, and spend quality time with family and friends (old and new).
What began as a personal love of sauna eventually became a pursuit to understand what makes the experience so special. I’ve studied sauna design and technology and trained in traditional sauna guide practices in Finland, and I’ve spent time experiencing sauna culture across the United States and around the world.
Eventually, I decided to turn that passion into something more. I hope we can share some of that joy with you.
